VOLUNTEER!

We absolutely couldn’t function without the support of our incredible volunteers! Anyone can make our community stronger by giving their time, and we’d love for you to spend that time with us. We offer plenty of opportunities for all skill and age levels throughout the year, and we can provide credit for student volunteer hours through any of our programs. Please note that we cannot accept court-ordered community service volunteers at this time.

Wellie Squad

If you’re into reducing waste and supporting teachers and have time to give on a consistent basis, we’d love for you to join our team! Our Wellie Squad is vital to our mission, and we ask that you commit to an average of four hours a month or more for this position.

Assist teachers with warehouse shopping and classroom projects, keep our shelves organized, develop creative reuse projects, research vintage treasures, create dazzling displays, help with workshops and events, and even become an esteemed Department Chair overseeing your own area of our Educator Warehouse. Whether you adore craft supplies, books, technology, sweet retro staplers, or just chatting with people, there’s a home here for you. Must be age 15+.

High-Impact, Low-Commitment Opportunities

Community Volunteering

Gather with fellow do-gooders to get stuff done! Meet up for community camaraderie while working on tasks to help teachers (ie, rolling fabric, organizing supplies, sorting books, assembling kits, and other simple but important jobs that keep Welman HQ organized.) Come once, twice, or every week! Great way to get to know like-minded people and make a big difference without committing to regular volunteer shifts.

Groups of up to 12 people may sign up depending on availability. No experience necessary! Kids under 15 are welcome with parent or guardian supervision.

Batcave Assistants

Our Batcave Assistants work in our incoming donation room (the Batcave) helping our team bring in and sort through incoming donations.

No experience necessary! Ages 15 and up may volunteer without a parent. Kids 10 and up are welcome with parent or guardian supervision.

Totally Textile Tuesdays

Bond with fellow fiber fiends as you roll donated fabric, sort through notions and yarn, and prep fabric packs. Bonus – get first dibs on retail sale items before they hit the shop!

No experience necessary! Kids under 15 are welcome with parent or guardian supervision.

GIVE A GIFT!

The Welman Project serves as a FREE resource for educators. We rely on monetary donations to continue our mission to fill a classroom, not a landfill.

Dollars at The Welman Project don’t buy new things. Dollars to The Welman Project are an investment in making the most of the resources already available to support the needs of our educators and students. Your gift goes further because it’s not spent just handing out supplies. It’s spent working directly with a teacher to match the right free materials to their classroom to make the maximum impact.

The Welman Project is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Your gifts are tax deductible and immensely appreciated. EIN 81-1116926

“Because of The Welman Project, my kindergartners have a classroom filled with creative play! They will fall in love with books, stories, and pretend. They will develop socially, emotionally, and creatively without even knowing it, and they will work harder for their classroom teacher because they’ll be motivated to come to school everyday. THANK YOU for all that you do to support teachers.”

Ehleshea Anderson, Kindergarten Teacher
