GIVE A GIFT
The Welman Project serves as a FREE resource for the Fort Worth community. We rely on monetary donations to continue our mission to fill a classroom, not a landfill.
Dollars at The Welman Project don’t buy new things. Dollars to The Welman Project are an investment in making the most of the resources already available to support the needs of our educators and students. Your gift goes further because it's not spent just handing out supplies. It's spent working directly with a teacher to match the right free materials to their classroom to make the maximum impact.
The Welman Project is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Your gifts are tax deductible and immensely appreciated. EIN 81-1116926
“Because of The Welman Project, my kindergartners have a classroom filled with creative play! They will fall in love with books, stories, and pretend. They will develop socially, emotionally, and creatively without even knowing it, and they will work harder for their classroom teacher because they'll be motivated to come to school everyday. THANK YOU for all that you do to support teachers.”
We absolutely couldn't function without the support of our incredible volunteers! Seriously, we'd just be curled up in a corner crying about the number of teachers who desperately need supplies while perfectly good stuff piles up in a landfill. Overwhelming, right?! Not if we all work together! Anyone can make our community stronger by giving their time, and we’d love for you to spend that time with us.
We offer plenty of opportunities for all skill and age levels throughout the year, and we can provide credit for student volunteer hours through any of our programs. Please note that we cannot accept court-ordered community service volunteers at this time.
Strap on your party pants (and maybe some work gloves) and join the fun. Karma points guaranteed.
Wellie Honor Rollers - Casual Commitment
All ages welcome (14 and under must be accompanied by an adult)
Meet up for community camaraderie while working on tasks to help teachers (ie, rolling fabric, organizing supplies, sorting books, assembling kits, and other simple but important jobs that keep Welman HQ organized.) Come once, twice, or every week! Great way to get to know like-minded people and make a big difference without committing to regular volunteer shifts. Takes place most Sunday afternoons, Wednesday evenings, and Thursday mornings.
Space is limited, so please sign up each time you plan to join us. Masks required. Please bring your own reusable water bottle for earth-friendly hydration!
Wellie Teacher’s Aides - Regular Commitment
Age 15 & up
Looking for more from your volunteering? If you’re into reducing waste and supporting teachers and have time to give on a consistent basis, we’d love for you to join our team! Our Teacher’s Aides are vital to our mission, and we ask that you commit to an average of six hours a month or more for this position.
Help sort through incoming donations, assist teachers with shopping, develop creative reuse projects, research vintage treasures, create dazzling displays, help with workshops and events, even become an esteemed Department Chair overseeing your own area of our educator warehouse. Whether you adore craft supplies, books, technology, or a sweet retro stapler, there’s a home here for you.
Masks required. Please bring your own reusable water bottle for earth-friendly hydration!
Dad’s Garage Squad - Regular Commitment
Age 18 & up
Do you love spending time in your garage or craft room? Is a well-organized toolbox your jam? We’re now recruiting volunteers for our soon-to-be-open makerspace! We need friendly folks to help teachers use our machines safely to make their classroom project dreams come true. Shifts will include guiding visitors to the right tools for their project, providing safety instruction and operational support, and ensuring our makerspace stays neat and organized.
We’re looking for people familiar with any of the following: woodworking, metalworking, sewing, crafting, furniture rehab, gadget repair, video production, CNC router, laser cutter, 3D printer, Cricut, Adobe Suite, AutoCad, and more. Come play with us!
