Look at you, multitasking!

We’re so excited to help you or your company donate surplus materials to educators!

To help US out, please take a minute to read over our donation guidelines.

“What can I donate?”

Some examples of materials we accept are:

  • Event materials (used signage, printed-on promo items, decorations)
  • Arts & crafts supplies (paint, stamps, canvas, googly eyes)
  • Paper (old letterhead, scraps, stationary, scrapbook, mat board)
  • Office supplies (staplers, tape, desk organizers, clipboards)
  • Architectural & interior design samples
  • Surplus items, off-cuts, defects, misprints, remnants from manufacturing
  • Classroom items (games, books, decor, prizes, school supplies)
  • Teaching materials (but for textbooks, check out
  • Textiles (fabric, yarn, leather, scraps, notions, patterns)
  • Building materials (wood, pipe, tile, wire, tools)
  • Furniture (bookcases, chairs, tables, lamps, clean rugs)
  • Storage (containers, trays, bins, bottles)
  • Current, working electronics (We do have a bin on-site that accepts small electronics for recycling. Find info on large e-waste recycling in Fort Worth HERE.)
  • Theatrical items (props, costumes, set pieces)
  • Repurpose stuff (corks, packing material, old media, bike parts)
  • Vintage and funky finds

This is NOT a complete list. Our goal is to save things from the landfill through creative reuse, so check with us before you toss it!

Some items we can never accept:

  • Toxic/hazardous materials
  • Matches, firecrackers, combustibles, or any type of flammable liquids
  • Materials containing lead
  • Anything with mold or mildew
  • Medical waste
  • Mattresses and bedding
  • Used stuffed animals
  • Clothing (except costumes, vintage, and new surplus or misprints)
  • Items with food residue

Please check the Fort Worth website HERE for information on proper disposal of these materials.

Due to overstock, we’re currently unable to accept:

  • Hanging file folders

But wait! There's another option:

Clothing, shoes, accessories, small appliances, electronics, toys, linens, towels, etc. that we cannot accept, CAN be placed in the purple bin in our parking lot. These items are picked up by our partner, Recycle2Support, to be reused or recycled, and The Welman Project receives a monetary donation. Win-win!

If we can’t take your donation, we'll do our best to refer to you to an organization that can. We work with many great nonprofits in the area, so feel free to ask us for suggestions!

“Got it. Now how do I donate?”

We welcome donation drop-offs during any of our open hours:

Monday - Thursday | 3:30 - 6:30 pm

Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday | 9 am - 12 pm

(We generally follow the FWISD calendar for holiday closures. Follow us on Facebook for current schedule information.)

We also welcome volunteers during these hours, and beyond! Please let us know if you’re interested in helping out, or have a group (adult or student) looking for service projects.

- If you have over 70 cubic feet of stuff (more than what fits in a standard mom car), please contact us before coming by. Our building is small and our staff are few, so we cannot always accept all items.

- Please organize your materials! Your donations can get distributed to teachers much faster when boxes arrive neatly sorted - and our lovely volunteers really appreciate the help!

- We reserve the right to refuse donations even if they have been approved unseen by phone or email. We cannot accept dirty or moldy materials.

Our building is located at 4201 Trail Lake Drive, 76109, at the back of the First Congregational Church parking lot. The entrance is on Manderly Place.

If you can’t drop off your donation, we can pick up by appointment on a case-by-case basis.  Our primary pickup day is Fridays.

- This service is free within ten miles of Welman headquarters for donations under 70 cubic feet (the amount we can fit in a standard mom car), but we greatly appreciate any monetary donation you can make to help keep us on the road!

- If you’re further away, have more than 70 cubic feet of material, or have items that require us to bring a second team member to lift, there will be a nominal fee to cover our costs.

- For large volumes of furniture, or especially big items, we appreciate as much advance notice as possible. Due to our limited storage space, we often work to match items with schools and nonprofits before pickup so they can be delivered directly to their new home.

To arrange a pickup, please fill out the form below and we'll be in touch shortly.

(Online communication not your thing? Call or text 817-809-6389.)

“Who receives my stuff?"

Your items are made available for FREE to educators at accredited public, nonprofit private, and charter schools, as well as 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations. We don’t give materials to for-profit schools, in-home educators, or to anyone for personal use. Know a teacher who could use free stuff? Send them HERE to find out how to shop with us.
